Using Visual Aids

Seeing is Understanding

Using pictures, blocks, or drawings helps you see math problems more clearly. Visual aids make it easier to understand what is happening in addition and subtraction.

How to Use Visual Aids

  • Draw circles or squares for each number.
  • Use counting blocks or beads to represent numbers.
  • Make tally marks on paper.

Visual aids are especially helpful when solving tricky problems or learning new math ideas.
