Weather Patterns

What Is Weather?

Weather is what’s happening outside right now—like if it’s sunny, rainy, windy, or snowy! Every day, weather can change, but sometimes we notice patterns over time.

Types of Weather

  • Sunny: The sun is shining, and there are few clouds.
  • Rainy: Water falls from clouds.
  • Cloudy: The sky is covered with clouds.
  • Windy: The air is moving a lot.
  • Snowy: Frozen snowflakes fall from the sky.

Patterns in Weather

By watching the weather each day, we can notice patterns. Some places have more rain in spring, or more snow in winter. These patterns can help us prepare for different seasons.

Weather and Our Lives

Weather affects what we wear, what we do, and even what plants and animals can live in a place.

Fun Weather Activities

Try keeping a weather journal to track changes each day!

Examples

  • Wearing boots and a raincoat on rainy days.

  • Noticing more sunny days during summer vacation.
