Weather and Seasons

What Is the Weather Like Today?

Weather is what it’s like outside right now—sunny, rainy, windy, or snowy! Weather changes every day and can be different in different places.

Seasons of the Year

There are four seasons: spring, summer, autumn (fall), and winter. Each season has its own kind of weather and special things to see and do.

  • Spring: Flowers bloom and it gets warmer.
  • Summer: It is hot and sunny, perfect for swimming.
  • Autumn: Leaves change color and fall from trees.
  • Winter: It can be cold, and sometimes it snows.

How Does Weather Affect Us?

Weather tells us what clothes to wear and what activities we can do outside.

Watching the Weather

  • Make a weather chart and draw the weather each day.
  • Notice how the trees and plants change with the seasons.

Examples

  • Wearing a raincoat when it is rainy.

  • Building a snowman in winter.
