Drawing Pictures to Solve Problems

Visualize to Understand

Sometimes the best way to solve a math problem is to draw it out! Making pictures of fractions, decimals, or shapes can help you see the answer more clearly.

Try drawing a pizza cut into slices or a bar divided into tenths. This makes tricky problems much easier to understand.

Examples

  • Drawing a rectangle and splitting it into 4 equal parts to show \( \frac{3}{4} \).

  • Drawing coins to add up money using decimals.
