Using Text Evidence

Proving Your Answers

When you answer questions about something you read, it's important to show where you found your answer. This is called using text evidence.

  • Find a sentence or phrase in the text that supports your answer.
  • Use quotation marks to show the exact words you found.
  • Explain how the evidence backs up your answer.

Using text evidence helps you show you really understand what you read and makes your answers stronger!
