MAP 5th Grade Reading helps students build strong reading skills, understand complex texts, and apply reading strategies for success in school and life.
Before you start reading, take a few moments to look at the title, pictures, and headings. This is called previewing. Then, try to guess what the text will be about—this is predicting.
Why do this? It helps your brain get ready, so you understand more and remember what you read. Keep checking your predictions as you read to see if they were right!
