Not sure of an answer? The ACT doesn’t penalize for wrong answers, so guessing is always better than leaving a question blank! Use elimination to boost your odds.

How to Eliminate

  • Cross out obviously wrong choices.
  • Watch for answer choices that are too extreme or off-topic.
  • If two answers seem similar, one is likely correct—compare them closely.

Why Guessing Works

Statistically, guessing increases your chances of getting more answers right. With practice, you’ll get better at spotting wrong choices.
