Building on first grade foundations with addition, subtraction, and early problem-solving skills.
Subtraction is when you take some away from a group and see how many are left. It's like eating some of your cookies and counting how many you have left!
In a subtraction problem, you start with a big number and take away a smaller number. The answer is called the difference.
If you have 10 crayons and give 4 to a friend, you use subtraction to see how many crayons you have left.
You have 8 balloons. 3 float away. 8 - 3 = 5 balloons left.
There are 6 cookies. You eat 2. 6 - 2 = 4 cookies left.
Subtraction means taking away and finding what remains.
