Math

Study of numbers, quantities, shapes, and patterns.

Basic Concepts

Patterns and Sequences

Spotting Patterns

Patterns are repeating designs or sequences we see in numbers, shapes, and colors. They help us predict what comes next.

  • Number Patterns:
    • 2, 4, 6, 8, ... (add 2 each time)
    • 1, 3, 6, 10, ... (add 2, then 3, then 4, ...)

Why Are Patterns Important?

Patterns help us solve problems and understand how things change over time. They are the building blocks for bigger math ideas.

Patterns in Nature and Life

Patterns show up in nature (like the petals of a flower), music (beats and rhythms), and art (repeating designs).

Examples

  • Finding the next shape in a sequence of pictures.

  • Noticing stripes on a zebra or spots on a ladybug.

In a Nutshell

Patterns are regular arrangements that help us predict and solve problems.
