Checking Your Work

Make Sure Your Answer Makes Sense

After you solve a problem, go back and check your work. Did you copy the numbers correctly? Can you use a different operation to double-check (like adding to check subtraction)? Making sure your answer makes sense helps you catch mistakes and feel more confident.

Examples

  • After subtracting, add your answer to the smaller number to see if you get the bigger number.

  • Look at your answer and ask: does this number make sense for the question?
