Measuring Shapes and Spaces

Perimeter

The perimeter is the distance around a shape. Add up the lengths of all sides.

Area

The area is the amount of space inside a shape.

  • Rectangle: \( \text{Area} = \text{length} \times \text{width} \)
  • Triangle: \( \text{Area} = \frac{1}{2} \times \text{base} \times \text{height} \)

Volume

Volume measures how much space a 3D object holds.

  • Rectangular prism: \( \text{Volume} = \text{length} \times \text{width} \times \text{height} \)

Examples
