This subject covers essential 4th grade math concepts aligned with Common Core standards, including operations, fractions, and measurement.
Fractions are numbers that show parts of a whole. The top number is called the numerator and tells how many parts you have. The bottom number, the denominator, tells how many equal parts the whole is divided into.
You’ll learn to compare fractions and find equivalent fractions (fractions that look different but are equal). Visual models, like fraction bars or circles, help you see how fractions work.
To add or subtract fractions, they need to have the same denominator. If they don’t, you’ll find a common denominator first.
Fractions are everywhere: slicing pizza, measuring cups for recipes, or dividing up a bag of candy with friends!
If you eat 2 out of 8 pizza slices, you’ve eaten \( \frac{2}{8} \) of the pizza.
Comparing \( \frac{1}{4} \) and \( \frac{2}{8} \) shows they are the same size.
Fractions help us understand and work with parts of a whole.
