Why Estimate?

Estimating helps you make quick decisions when you don't need an exact answer, like checking if you have enough money or time.

How to Round Numbers

  • If the next digit is 5 or higher, round up.
  • If the next digit is 4 or lower, round down.
  • Round to the nearest ten, hundred, or to a decimal place.

Using Estimation in Real Life

Estimation saves time and helps avoid mistakes when working quickly.

Example Steps

To round 47 to the nearest ten, look at the ones digit (7). Since it’s 5 or higher, round up to 50.
