Making a Mini Water Cycle

Build Your Own Water Cycle

You can make a mini water cycle using a clear plastic bag, some water, and a sunny window.

Steps

  1. Pour a little water into a clear bag and seal it.
  2. Tape the bag to a sunny window.
  3. Watch what happens over a few hours or days!

What Will You See?

Water will evaporate inside the bag, form droplets (condensation), and slide down (precipitation), just like the real water cycle.

Examples

  • Seeing water droplets collect on the inside of the bag.

  • Noticing the water level goes down as it evaporates.
