4th Grade Reading focuses on developing comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills through engaging texts and literature.
Sometimes you see a word you don't know. Context clues are hints in the sentence that help you guess the meaning without a dictionary.
You use context clues in books, instructions, and even when reading signs or labels.
Try guessing the meaning of new words before looking them up!
You see 'The arid desert was very dry,' so you know 'arid' means 'dry.'
The story says, 'She was jubilant, or very happy, when she won the prize,' so you figure out 'jubilant.'
