Decoding Tricky Words

Sometimes you see a word you don't know. Context clues are hints in the sentence that help you guess the meaning without a dictionary.

Types of Context Clues

  • Definition: The word is explained right in the sentence.
  • Example: The sentence gives an example to show what the word means.
  • Synonym/Antonym: A similar or opposite word is used nearby.
