Middle School Physical Science

Middle School Physical Science explores the fundamental concepts of matter, energy, and the interactions between them through engaging experiments and real-world applications.

Basic Concepts

Energy and Its Forms

What is Energy?

Energy is the ability to do work or cause change. Without energy, nothing would move, grow, or happen!

Types of Energy

  • Kinetic Energy: Energy of motion (a rolling ball).
  • Potential Energy: Stored energy (a stretched rubber band).
  • Thermal Energy: Energy from heat.
  • Chemical Energy: Stored in food and fuels.
  • Electrical Energy: Used to power devices.

Energy Transformation

Energy can change from one form to another. For example, eating food (chemical energy) allows you to run (kinetic energy).

Everyday Uses

From flipping a light switch to charging your phone, energy is involved in everything you do!

Examples

  • Eating breakfast gives you energy to play soccer.

  • A toaster transforms electrical energy into heat to toast bread.

In a Nutshell

Energy comes in many forms and can change from one to another in our daily lives.
