Process of Elimination

Narrowing Down the Choices

If you're not sure of the answer, try eliminating options you know are incorrect. This increases your chances of guessing correctly.

How to Use It

  • Cross out obviously wrong answers.
  • Look for clues in the question that make some choices impossible.

This strategy is especially helpful on multiple-choice questions where even a partial guess can lead to points!

Examples

  • On a question with four choices, you can rule out two that don’t make sense, giving you a 50% chance if you have to guess.

  • If a math answer is negative but the question asks for a positive number, eliminate the negative choices.
