Text structure is about how a story or article is organized. In 3rd grade, you'll learn to spot different structures like sequence, cause and effect, and compare and contrast.

Types of Text Structure

• Sequence: Events are listed in order.
• Cause and Effect: Shows why something happens and what happens because of it.
• Compare and Contrast: Looks at how things are alike and different.

How to Identify Structure

• Look for clue words like “because,” “after,” “similar,” and “different.”
• Make a chart to show how events or ideas are connected.
