Study Strategies

Asking and Answering Questions

Be Curious While Reading

Asking questions before, during, and after reading keeps you interested and helps you understand better. Try to answer your own questions as you go.

  • Before reading, ask: What do I think this will be about?
  • During reading, ask: Why did the character do that?
  • After reading, ask: What did I learn?

This strategy helps you become an active, thoughtful reader!

Examples

  • Wondering why a character made a choice and looking for clues in the story.

  • Asking what will happen next in a mystery book and searching for hints.
